Mobile - Glossary
Mobile subscription
A subscription contract for a mobile phone or device, covering calls, text messages and mobile data.
A mobile subscription is a contract with a mobile operator that lets you make calls, send text messages and use mobile data. Finland has three network operators (Elisa, DNA, Telia) plus the virtual operator Moi, which runs on DNA's network. Subscriptions differ in data speed, data caps and monthly fee.
Mobile subscriptions in Finland are affordable by international standards - an unlimited 5G subscription typically costs 20-35 EUR/month. The biggest difference between subscriptions is the maximum speed: 100 Mbit/s, 300 Mbit/s, 600 Mbit/s or 1,000 Mbit/s. For most uses 100-300 Mbit/s is plenty.
Switching between operators is easy and free. Your number transfers with you and there is no break in service. The new operator handles the termination of the old subscription.
