Mobile plan comparison 2026
Finland has three mobile operators with their own networks: Elisa, DNA and Telia. Elisa and DNA are the largest players and Telia is an international operator. Virtual operators (MVNOs) also run on those networks, selling plans under their own brand: Moi uses DNA's network and Oomi Mobiili either Telia's or DNA's. A plan from a virtual operator is often cheaper, and coverage is the same as the network owner's.
How do I choose the right plan?
Choosing the right plan depends on a few factors:
- Data usage - Estimate how much data you use per month. If you watch a lot of video or use your phone as a hotspot, unlimited data is a sensible choice.
- Network technology - 5G offers a faster connection but 4G is enough for most needs. Check the 5G coverage in your area.
- Contract type - A fixed-term contract is often cheaper, but an open-ended contract gives flexibility.
- Price - Compare the total cost, not just the campaign price. Note what the plan costs after the campaign ends.
Switching plans is easy
Switching operators in Finland has been made very easy. Number porting is a statutory right and the new operator handles everything for you. Your number is preserved and you don't need to cancel your old contract separately. Read more in our plan-switching guide.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest mobile plan?
The cheapest mobile plan depends on your needs. Moi often offers the most affordable basic plans, but with campaign prices Elisa, DNA and Telia can also be the cheapest. Compare plans to find the cheapest option for you.
Should I choose a 5G or 4G plan?
5G is faster and worth it if you live in an area with 5G coverage. 4G is fine for basic use and is often cheaper. 5G plan prices have dropped close to 4G levels.
How do I switch plans?
Switching plans is easy: sign a new contract with your chosen operator, and the new operator handles cancelling the old contract and porting your number. Your number stays the same and the outage is only a few minutes.
Do I need unlimited data?
Unlimited data is handy if you watch a lot of video, game, or use your phone as a hotspot. If you use under 10 GB per month, a capped plan can be cheaper.
What is the difference between a fixed-term and an open-ended contract?
A fixed-term contract is often cheaper, but binds you for a set period (usually 12-24 months). You can cancel an open-ended contract at any time. Moi offers only open-ended contracts.
