- Energy - The actual energy price (comparable)
- Margin - Provider's markup on spot price
- Distribution - Grid operator fee (~4-5 cents/kWh)
- Electricity tax - State tax (~2.8 cents/kWh)

How does the calculator work?
Enter your annual consumption (kWh), the spot or fixed price, margin and monthly fee. The calculator computes the total cost including distribution, electricity tax and VAT.
Where do I find my annual consumption?
Your annual consumption appears on your electricity bill or grid operator customer portal. On average a flat uses 2,000 kWh, a terraced house 8,000 kWh and a detached house 18,000 kWh per year.
Does the calculator include distribution?
Yes, the calculator uses an average distribution price (~4.5 cents/kWh). The real price depends on your grid operator and varies regionally.
What is the margin?
Margin is the markup that the provider adds on top of the spot price on spot contracts. A typical margin is 0.29-0.99 cents/kWh.
