Prepaid subscription

A mobile subscription topped up in advance with no monthly fee. You pay only for what you use.

A prepaid subscription is a mobile subscription where you top up the balance in advance and usage is charged per minute or per day. A prepaid subscription has no monthly fee and no commitment period - you pay only for what you use.

In Finland prepaid is an uncommon choice, because unlimited subscriptions are affordable (from 15 EUR/month). Prepaid is best suited to very low use (a backup or travel phone), to children whose use you want to limit, or to travellers.

A prepaid subscription can be obtained without a personal identity number, which makes it easy to get. The downside is usually a higher unit price compared with a monthly subscription - for an active user an unlimited subscription is almost always cheaper.
