Oomi coverage and network reach

Oomi offers 4G / 5G (Telian tai DNA:n verkko) plans. This page explains whose network Oomi uses, how far 4G and 5G reach, which plans include 5G and how to check coverage at your own address.

Whose network does Oomi use?

Oomi Mobiili is a virtual operator: phone plans can be placed on either DNA's or Telia's network, and data-only plans run on DNA's network.

In northern and eastern Finland DNA and Telia use a shared network built and run by Suomen Yhteisverkko. The area covers about 62.5% of Finland's land area and about 28.5% of the population, bounded roughly by a line from Raahe to Loviisa. The shared network's 5G upgrade was completed at the end of 2024.

3G was retired along with the DNA and Telia networks by 2024.

5G coverage and frequency bands

Oomi uses the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands for 5G. The low 700 MHz band carries far and passes through walls, so it brings 5G to rural areas and indoors. The 3.5 GHz band gives the highest speeds in built-up areas. The 26 GHz bands have been auctioned but are not in consumer use.

Oomi has no network of its own and no separate 5G SA plan.

Recent network changes

  • Oomi publishes no coverage map of its own and points customers to DNA's or Telia's map depending on the plan's network.
  • Oomi Mobiili is the mobile brand of the energy company Oomi.

How to check coverage at your address

  1. Open the DNA coverage map and search for your address or town.
  2. Look at 4G and 5G separately. The map shows calculated outdoor coverage, so the connection indoors may be weaker.
  3. If you live on the edge of the network, ask neighbours or try the plan: the 14-day distance-selling cancellation right applies to plans ordered online.
  4. For a cottage or a car, also check the competitors' maps, since the networks differ most in sparsely populated areas.

Oomi 5G plans

These Oomi plans include 5G. Prices update automatically.

5G is included in the 5G 300M and 5G 600M plans. 4G 10M and 4G 100M run on the 4G network.

Frequently asked questions about Oomi coverage

Is the Oomi 5G network available across Finland?

Oomi 5G coverage is in DNA's and Telia's networks up to 99% of the population according to Oomi. Coverage means outdoor reach calculated from residences, so in wilderness and indoors 5G is not always available. Check your own address on the coverage map.

Does Oomi work at a cottage and in rural areas?

The 4G network covers as DNA's or Telia's network, so calls and basic internet work almost everywhere. Speeds drop in sparsely populated areas: in Traficom's measurements the median speed in cities exceeded 200 Mbit/s, while in sparsely populated countryside it stayed under 30 Mbit/s.

Do I need a 5G plan?

Not necessarily. 4G is enough for calls, messaging and video. 5G pays off if you use the plan as home internet, share the connection with several devices or want the lowest latency. 5G is included in the 5G 300M and 5G 600M plans. 4G 10M and 4G 100M run on the 4G network.

Why is coverage worse indoors than the map shows?

The map shows outdoor coverage. Concrete, energy-efficient windows and metal roofs attenuate the signal, especially on 3.5 GHz. The 700 MHz band passes through structures better. If the problem persists, a router near a window or Wi-Fi calling helps.
