Whose network does Elisa use?

Elisa builds and runs its own nationwide network and is not part of the DNA and Telia shared network.

Elisa's 3G network was shut down in November 2023, the first in Finland.

5G coverage and frequency bands

Elisa uses the 700 MHz and 3.5 GHz bands for 5G. The low 700 MHz band carries far and passes through walls, so it brings 5G to rural areas and indoors. The 3.5 GHz band gives the highest speeds in built-up areas. The 26 GHz bands have been auctioned but are not in consumer use.

Elisa is the only operator selling consumer plans on a standalone 5G network (5G SA), recognisable by the 5G+ or Aito 5G name. Parts of the Helsinki region, Tampere and Jyväskylä also run 5.5G technology.

Recent network changes

• The 5G network reached every Finnish municipality in October 2024.
• Consumer 5G SA plans (5G+) launched in March 2024.
• The coverage map was renewed in October 2025 and now shows maximum speeds, antenna directions and frequencies.
• In Traficom's October 2025 tests in Posio and Porvoo, Elisa calls succeeded at every test point.

How to check coverage at your address

1. Open the Elisa coverage map and search for your address or town.
2. Look at 4G and 5G separately. The map shows calculated outdoor coverage, so the connection indoors may be weaker.
3. If you live on the edge of the network, ask neighbours or try the plan: the 14-day distance-selling cancellation right applies to plans ordered online.
4. For a cottage or a car, also check the competitors' maps, since the networks differ most in sparsely populated areas.
